The village has everything you’d expect for one of its size – plenty of shops, pubs and modern amenities, as well as some great schools.

The best of these are in and around Chinnor Playing Fields along the B4009, where thatched cottages and detached period homes are the order of the day.

The Crown is on Station Road in the centre of Chinnor, while The Red Lion is on the B4009, close to the playing fields.
The Wheatsheaf is south of the village centre, close to Oakley and at the other end of the B4009.

As well as its three pubs, which all serve a range of tasty, home-cooked dishes, Chinnor is also home to several popular restaurants.
For Indian classics, try Chinnor Indian Cuisine, close to The Red Lion. The venue serves up great curries and superb sides.
For a great Chinese takeaway, meanwhile, head to Golden Chopsticks and for breakfast, White’s Windmill Café is highly recommended.
Chinnor shops
Chinnor is home to a whole host of independent shops, with many lining both Station Road and the High Street.
Thame’s weekly market is also worth a visit.

Chinnor has two primary schools.
St Andrew’s CofE Primary is rated ‘Outstanding’, while Mill Lane Community Primary School is rated ‘Good’.
How far is Chinnor from Oxford?
Chinnor is just 18 miles from Oxford city centre.
Drivers should take the B4009 to the M40, before picking up the A40 at junction eight of the motorway.
The journey takes around 30 minutes.
